Care Enough in April

“For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him” (2 Chron 16:9a). Clearly, the Spirit of God perpetually moves. The voice of God perpetually speaks.

For reasons known only to God, He moves, acts, and speaks to His people during 18 of April’s 30 days. In April:

·     Noah removed the covering from the Ark due to sighting dry land.
·     Moses received instructions about Passover.
·     God released the plague on the First Born of Egypt.
·     Israel held the inaugural Passover.
·     Israel crossed the Red Sea and the Egyptian army didn’t.
·     Miriam, sister of Aaron and Moses, died.
·     Joshua sent scouts to spy out the promised land.
·     Joshua and company saw Jerico walls collapse.
·     Jesus cleansed the Temple.
·     The resurrected Jesus appeared to His followers.

I wonder:
What does the Spirit of Jesus want to say this April across Kansas, around the globe, in your heart, in your family? What does He want to accomplish through AGKansas-credentialed ministry leaders? Woman and man of God, what does He want to show you? What fresh instructions might He want to download into your soul? What powerful spiritual adversary does He intend to “drown” as you walk forward into the path He provided?

A. W. Tozer titled one of his masterpiece books, “God Tells the Man Who Cares.” Let’s live as leaders who care enough to quiet our hearts, wait in His presence, and hear what He speaks to us in April - and the months beyond.

Pastor Terry L. Yancey

WIMB '24 was precious and impactful! These words do not do justice to the time of connection, fellowship, and refreshing we all shared.

On Friday morning, we heard honest ministry testimonies from Kansas leaders who spoke of times when God came through for them; despite loneliness, lack, and loss. Practical advice was shared on how to have more JOY in your life… because sometimes in ministry we get so busy “doing” that we forget God wants us to have JOY in our days! Just try saying “bubbles” in an angry voice without laughing! Friday was also meaningful as Ryan and Grace Wheeler shared encouragement for when we feel misunderstood in our ministry and not liked by the people around us. Ryan led the group in personal deliverance prayer as he encouraged us to break up with lies and renounce their power over us. That evening was impactful as the altar filled with ladies saying “God, remove the ‘many things’ so that out of 'no things' you can do a new thing!”

Saturday morning, we honored and celebrated Karen Yancey but not before we took time to sit and listen to her speak into our lives and offer us pearls of wisdom for both ministry and everyday life. As a gift to Karen, all attendees chose a flower and put their name on a tag attached to it. The flowers were arranged and presented to Karen representing the many lives she has watered and tended to over the years. Karen’s impact on AGK Women in Leadership is unmatched. She has been a friend, seer, intercessor, confidant, encourager, mentor, and more! What a legacy of ministry Karen has had in Kansas!

Lastly, I, Grace, am grateful to Karen Yancey for trusting me to lead WIMB for the past 3 years. It has been a delight and honor to take the baton from Karen since she has been such a role model in my life. It has also been my joy to serve the Kansas women in ministry leadership. There is no doubt that God has nothing but "good plans" ahead for us!

We had such a great time at PK Retreat 2024! This event is so special because it allows us to invest relationally and spiritually in the lives of our AGK PKs (and we have a LOT of fun too!) Some of this year's activities included a giant game of Clue, the Second Annual Amazing Race, Urban Air, shopping & dinner at the mall, an amazing evening service at LifePoint, late night at The Alley, and spending time together. If your PK wasn't able to make it this year, we hope to see them next year!

“Worldwide redemption is not an afterthought but a part of the eternal purpose of the heavenly Father.”
Dr. Owen Carr

If you had to guess, how many people in the United States would you say have a biblical worldview—believing the Bible is accurate, authoritative, and applicable to every area of life?

Here’s the stark reality:
·     Only 51% claim to have a biblical worldview, yet 41% believe that the Bible, the Koran, and the Book of Mormon express the same divine truths.*
·     An estimated 6% of people living in the United States embrace God's Word as the defining element of their daily lives and an alarming 22.8% of all Americans answer "None" on
surveys about religious affiliation.
·     A reported 45% of teenagers in the U.S. believe that all religions teach equally valid truths.
·     The Global Youth Culture study by OneHope reveals that a disturbing 25% of teens have reported feeling sexually attracted to someone of the same gender.
·     Over one-third (35%) of U.S. teens reported having suicidal thoughts in the last three months — the highest rate of any country in this global survey.

Among youth and adults alike, symptoms of distress and brokenness are on the rise, with steadily climbing numbers of drug overdoses, anxiety, and more. Without Jesus, people — especially younger generations — have little defense against increasing pressure, confusion, and despair.  Jesus is the answer.

Because Jesus is the answer, missions is vital.

As part of God’s global missionary initiative, U.S. Missions is an indispensable asset to the Kansas Ministry Network. They provide extensive support, resources, and training to ministers and churches, helping to establish and reinforce local churches, engage with communities, and spread the HOPE found in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

To each of our AGK U.S. Missionaries, we say THANK YOU. Because of your tireless efforts, the U.S. Missions is fostering growth and vibrancy of the Kansas Ministry Network.

To the AGK Ministry Network churches, pastors, and credential holders who collectively gave $416,512.16 to U.S. Missions in 2023, THANK YOU! This is an $8,431.56 increase over 2022.

We are—and must remain—a forward-leaning, Kingdom-minded Network. We dare not stay so safe within the walls of our church buildings that we become unable or unwilling to hear the cries of the dying. We are committed to making Kansas the easiest place in the world for people to experience the presence and forgiveness of Jesus.

This is who we are!

Relationships are essential to our lives and crucial to our overall well-being. This is particularly true for people in ministry, where relationships are about personal connections, community building, and serving others.

Regional Connect (RC) helps build those kinds of relationships.

Marc Cauthon, the Pastor of Evangel Assembly in Wichita and a Central Region Presbyter, recently described leading an RC event with his wife, Crystal. "We had a blast playing games, finding out who was competitive, enjoying delicious food, and making meaningful connections. The event ended with a prayer that uplifted our spirits."

Yes, building strong relationships takes dedication and intentionality. Marc and Crystal drove from Wichita to Salina to lead their RC event; the effort put into connecting with friends is not always equal. Yet, after the event, they left feeling grateful for the enriching moments they shared with others.

Regional Connect gatherings aren't about a number but about an opportunity. We’ve seen as few as six leaders sharing a meal while discussing the wins and challenges of ministry, and as many as 60 gathered for robust fellowship. We desire to defeat any spirit of isolation within the AGK and to see everyone experience the benefits of healthy relationships.

Ministers need support and friendship just like anyone else. Connecting with others overcomes isolation and builds partnerships that help us thrive. When we engage together, we fulfill our reason for being: to strengthen and establish effective Pentecostal leaders and churches.

Upcoming Regional Connects have been scheduled for April.  Register here for the RC in your area!

The Junior Bible Quiz regular season just concluded with district finals, on March 16th. This year, the Kansas district will be sending teams to both regionals and nationals. At last year’s regionals, Bethel Life Center in Wichita placed 5th out of 16, while Evangel Assembly, also in Wichita, placed 9th. For individual scores at last year’s regionals, Kennedy Hartzler from Evangel took 2nd out of 83 quizzers and Ethan Parker from Bethel took 4th. We are looking forward to seeing the results from this year’s regionals!

In 2023-24, we had both returning churches, and churches new to quizzing. There were four more churches quizzing this year than last. JBQ is growing!

We want to thank all the area coordinators, church coordinators, coaches, parents, and all the people in the church that contribute to the spiritual growth of the students.

Staying on top of your bookkeeping is essential if you plan to run a tight ship at your nonprofit or church. As a bookkeeper, there is no shortage of tasks, and overlooking just one can bite you later on down the road. We want your organization to have the best chance of succeeding, so we have designed a checklist for you to follow, which covers the responsibilities most nonprofits and churches complete every week and every month.
