In Luke 10:40 Martha gets very real with Jesus when she asks
"Lord, doesn't it seem unfair to you that my sister Mary just sits here while I do all the work?"

Can you relate with Martha's frustration? I can! As Women in Ministry Leadership, it's easy to feel as though countless tasks and multiple people constantly need a piece of us and our time. Some days our lives seem portioned out according to all the needs around us but rarely according to our own needs.

In this passage from Luke 10, Jesus addresses Martha's distracted heart and tells her "Mary has chosen the better portion, which will not be taken away from her.” Ok Jesus, wait. So you're saying I can have a portion of my time and my life that no one can demand of or take from me? "Yes Jesus! Sign me up for that!"

And then, there's David. Running for his life and hiding in a cave. It is in this remote cave that David writes: I cry to you, Lord; I say, "You are my refuge, MY PORTION in the land of the living." (Psalm 142:5)

Whether it is exhaustion from serving like Martha or exhaustion from hiding like David, the Lord can be MY PORTION. And from being as anxious and distracted as Martha to being as scared and weak as David, the Lord wants to be MY PORTION. And He is not just My Portion to come, He is My Portion here and now, in the land of the living!

Let's gather together as Kansas Women in Ministry March 2-4th 2023 and learn what it means to sit with Jesus and embrace Him as the better portion. Let's find out together what it means that the Lord is My Portion!
